Start with the matelassé, leather gathered and stitched into soft puckers so the surface ripples under the light, with the name set into the front as metal lettering. Miuccia Prada named the line after her own nickname.

You check two things first on a used piece. First the gathering. The puckers should be full and even with nothing flattened or sunken. Second the metal lettering, which should sit flat on the leather with every letter present and no lifting at the edges. Then you check clasp, feet and chain for tarnish, corners for rubbing, and soles and satin toes on shoes. Each piece at Kove carries its own condition description and its final published price.
